New Jersey State Police Sergeant Groping Case

A New Jersey State Police Sergeant has taken a plea deal in Centre County Court. This follows his charges of groping a teenage girl last year at a State College area hotel.

David De Jesus was charged last year after Police say a 14-year-old girl told them De Jesus gave her alcohol and groped her in his room at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center. They were both in State College for a wrestling tournament according to the teen — who said the incident happened in April.

Court records indicate De Jesus was off duty as a Sergeant for the New Jersey State Police. He was due to go on trial this week in Centre County Court on four criminal charges including unlawful contact with a minor and indecent assault. On Monday, De Jesus entered pleas to two misdemeanor charges — false imprisonment and furnishing alcohol to minors. He’s due to be sentenced next month.

The New Jersey State Police say De Jesus was suspended, without pay, following his arrest.
