Centre County Murder Trial

In Centre County, plans have been finalized for a murder trial this summer that stems from a deadly stabbing last year in Philipsburg.

New court orders signed in the past week for the trial of Fernando Rosado-Guzman, who is due to go on trial almost a year after police say he stabbed Brian Lyncha to death, last August, on railroad tracks in the area of North Front Street in Philipsburg.

Rosado-Guzman claims it was self-defense, that Lyncha pushed him off his bicycle and punched him in the face, but police say an eyewitness told them that the victim was drinking with Rosado-Guzman, and that a fight broke out and Rosado-Guzman stabbed the 41-year-old in the chest.

Rosado-Guzman was charged with criminal homicide.

According to the court orders, the trial will begin July 31st, and could continue until August 7th.

Jury selection is set for July 10th, with attorneys ordered to have pre-trial motions filed by July 17th.
