Happening next week across our region women age 40 and over who are eligible through their insurance for a screening mammogram, and who do not already have an upcoming scheduled mammogram, can receive one without an appointment.
Women can go to UPMC Bedford on Tuesday between 9 and 3
UPMC Outpatient Center in Ebensburg on Wednesday between 9 and 3
And UPMC Altoona Station Medical Center on Thursday between 8:30 and 2
“Early detection is the best prevention, and I really believe I in that. The earlier we find any kind of cancer, in this particular case breast cancer, the better the prognosis for the patients. So, patients who come and get screened tend to have smaller cancers and tend to have better outcomes.”
Your health insurance will be billed for this screening.
Women without health insurance are welcome, and assistance may be provided to cover the cost of screening.
