Two Men Charged In Bank Scheme In Centre County

Two out of state men are behind bars, accused of using fake documents at local banks.

Police say on Tuesday authorities were contacted after 64-year-old Arthur Smith, of New Jersey, used a fake driver’s license to try to obtain bank statements at First National Bank in State College.

Police say a teller recognized Smith as the suspect at another bank branch in Juniata County earlier in the day.

Smith allegedly told police that an unknown man, later identified as 24-year-old Jason Arzu, of New York, provided him with the fake documents in order to obtain money from the banks.

Both men are each charged with multiple felonies for forgery and theft related offenses.

They are being housed in the Centre County Correctional Facility.
