Utz brands says it is planning to sell two of its manufacturing facilities including the one in Berlin, Somerset County. The facility was bought by Utz back in 2019.
Now officials say the facility is expected to be sold again this time to Our Home™ which is an operating company of “Better For You Brands.” They make potato chips, puffed snacks, and popcorn.
Company leaders say “Current associates who work at the affected facilities will become our home™ employees, ensuring there will be minimal impact on our Utz colleagues as we transition ownership. In addition, Our Home™ is keeping pay rates and PTO allotments the same, honoring job tenure, and offering similar benefits.
They say the decision to sell the manufacturing plants, including the Berlin plant, follows a separate transaction in February, in which they say the company Our Home™ purchased three manufacturing facilities and two brands from Utz.
“Our home is a great fit for the acquired facilities and will co-manufacture some Utz brands products for up to 12 months.”
“The local brands will be continued in the local community.”
