Thursday was day four of the Penns Manor teacher strike and the picket lines took to the streets again in Indiana County.
Teachers said they are on the picket line from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The strike that began with teachers having concerns about healthcare plans possibly excluding some of their spouses, specifically ones covered by other districts.
District officials said they didn’t want a strike and this situation is hurting the students the most.
They say they want an agreement that’s fair to teachers and taxpayers.
“Such an outpouring of support. Food, water, snacks, handwarmers, ponchos. We’re out here rain or shine, and the community has just been overwhelmingly supportive.”
District officials said a meeting is scheduled for tomorrow at 10 a.m., and both sides said they hope to come to an agreement and end the strike.
“We’re hoping to get back in the classrooms as soon as possible, and to not be on the picket lines much longer, but if we have to be out here spirits are great.”
