Johnstown police have filed homicide charges against an inmate at SCI Houtzdale in connection to a 2022 fatal shooting and car crash in Moxham.
Police say 21-year-old Gary Hill has been charged in connection to the death of 42-year-old Timothy Harrison.
Authorities say Harrison was found shot inside a wrecked vehicle, in the area of Charles Street and Park Avenue, on Feb. 18, 2022.
Investigators say Harrison had reportedly suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Conemaugh Hospital where he later died in the operating room.
Upon further investigation, police say a search of Harrison’s found revealed that he had reportedly been in contact with another man, later identified as Hill, to purchase drugs.
Authorities say on the day of the shooting, Harrison had reportedly been instructed by Hill to meet him in the area of Charles Street.
According to the affidavit, police learned that Hill had reportedly admitted to shooting Harrison “outside a blue house near Charles Street” because he (Harrison) was allegedly attempting to purchase drugs using counterfeit money.
Police noted that the witness also reportedly had details of the crime that only authorities and the individual who committed the murder would know.
Investigators say the witness also told police that Hill admitted to selling the gun used in the shooting. Police say the gun was later recovered in Philadelphia as a result of a separate investigation.
According to online court records, Hill has been housed at SCI Houtzdale, since September, after pleading guilty to robbery charges in a separate case.
On Monday, Hill was charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
Officials say he will be arraigned at a later date.
