Bedford Business Fire

Crews were called to a massive fire in downtown Bedford Monday night.

Emergency officials say flames broke out around 11:30 p.m. at a business on South Juliana Street.

The say the fire then spread to multiple other businesses.

The flames tore through Mahendi Projects which sells personalized jewelry, essential oils, and other home goods here along South Juliana Street.

I spoke with the fire chief who described it as “immaculate” inside and many members of the community have walked past to see the damage leaving them in tears.

Take a look at this video from yesterday when crews were called to the scene around 11:30 last night for a fully involved structure fire.

Bedford Fire Chief Gary Cooper says the fire started in the rear of the building on the first floor.

For those who aren’t familiar this area is a major art and small business hub in town with craft stores and shops lining the streets.

Chief Cooper says some of the neighboring businesses sustained minor damage.

The State Police Fire Marshall is on scene to investigate but Chief Cooper says at the moment the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious.

One firefighter was taken to UPMC Bedford for a minor shoulder injury.

“I can’t say enough about the mutual aid that responsed able to get fire knocked down in an hour left 3:30 this morning.”

The owner says she is so grateful to the fire department and community members who have been nothing but supportive.

She told me “They’ll rebuild and They’ll be back.”
