Police are warning people of scams targeting gas station customers who use credit cards at the pump.
Police say Pump Switching scammers approach people while they’re filling up their tanks.
They offer to help and usually won’t take no for an answer.
Authorities say the scammers will take a hold of the gas pump and will not end the transaction when the victim leaves.
According to police scammers will also continue to offer to pump gas but will ask others to pay in cash while still running up charges on the victim’s credit card and pocketing the cash.
Some advice from police always hang up your own gas nozzle or hit end transaction on the pump keypad.
