Authorities in Cambria County confirmed that the trial has been postponed for a Johnstown man accused of fatally shooting a local high schooler nearly two years ago.
Qwante Rose was scheduled to appear in court on Monday for jury selection, with the trial to follow, but officials say the case has been continued.
Authorities say Rose’s defense asked for a continuance last week and a new trial is expected to be scheduled for February.
Rose is accused of killing 19-year-old Jayden Sanderson, whose body was found left in a car on Wood Street in the Hornerstown section of Johnstown, on New Year’s Day of 2022.
Investigators say Rose and Sanderson were reportedly in a relationship and had attended a New Year’s Eve party just hours before the crime.
Authorities say a witness told police that Rose confessed to shooting Sanderson in the back of the head.
His trial was previously delayed in July for unspecified reasons.
