Somerset County Teen Facing Charges

State police in Somerset County say a 17-year-old teen is facing charges after she admitted to hitting another female in the face with a metal baseball bat during a fight over a boy.

Investigators say on Dec. 30th, troopers were dispatched to the area of the Coal Miner’s CafĂ© in Jennerstown for a report of a physical altercation between juveniles in the alleyway behind the restaurant.

Police say the victim, another 17-year-old female, had obvious injuries to her face and head, and had reportedly suffered “a fair amount of blood loss.”

Troopers say the teen suspect admitted to hitting the victim with the bat, as well as kicking and punching her multiple times.

Investigators say the two teens admitted that the fight began during an argument about a boy “leaving” the suspect to have a relationship with the victim.

Troopers noted that the victim suffered multiple injuries, including a broken nose and finger, as well as lacerations and bruising to her face and head.

Police say the teen suspect was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of another person and simple assault.

Authorities have not released the identity of the teens.
