The Richland Fire Department received a donation meant for relaxation today.
They got to pick out $1,200 worth of furniture for free from American Freight Furniture, Mattress, & Appliance in Johnstown.
The department got a love seat and sofa which will go in the firefighter living quarters above the station.
That area helps to make sure someone is at the fire department 24 hours a day.
“It’s nice to have a quality piece of furniture that we can relax on and sit on while we’re waiting for calls to happen. We strive to have someone there all the time, so that way when the bell rings, we have someone out the door in the fastest amount of time possible.”
“We know that we’re working 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I know it’s important for them to have something comfortable to sit on, something that they can rely on. That way when they do have down time, they’re relaxing.”
The firefighters say they’re grateful for the continued support of richland businesses and community members.
