For many residents at Pleasant Village Mobile Home Park in Bedford County, the quiet 55+ community has been home for years.
Now, they say they’re being told they have to leave.
“We received a letter from the original landowners saying that they were going to be closing on April 1st and that there was a new buyer,”
Residents we spoke with say Creative Pultrusions, a manufacturing company located just down the road, purchased the property earlier this year.
We obtained a notice from the company’s attorneys, stating that the land will be redeveloped for business purposes and that they will no longer rent the land to tenants beyond March 31, 2027.
Residents say they own their mobile homes but rent the lots beneath them. They say moving those homes could cost tens of thousands of dollars.
Resident Bob Bedillion said, “I had to go into my retirement to pay for this Everybody else here is older. You know? And it’s just not right.”
95-year-old Dorothy Thomas says she’s lived at Pleasant Village for nearly a decade. She says the uncertainty has been difficult.
“It’s kind of bad. Kind of up in the air. You don’t know what you’re supposed to do. It would be great if you’d get some help from somebody who and had a place to go to,”
Residents claim they haven’t been offered financial assistance or relocation support. Some residents say they’ve begun researching state laws and have filed complaints with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office.
“I’ve talked to pretty much everybody that lives here, they haven’t offered anybody $0.10We have a 95-year-old woman that if she doesn’t have 20 grand, what she’s supposed to do? I mean, it’s just, it’s wrong,”
We reached out to Creative Pultrusions, the company’s CEO, and the attorneys who sent the notice.
As of right now, none have responded to our requests for comment.
The company’s media contact says they’re expected to meet with leadership on Wednesday afternoon and may have more information afterward.
