A former local police officer was in court today for allegedly raping a minor over five years ago.
As we previously reported Scott Berardinelli was 18 years old at the time of the alleged incident And later became a police officer for multiple local departments.
Today an investigator testified that Scott Berardinelli invited a 16 year old girl to a gym in Portage when he was 18 years old.
The alleged victim says she was friends with Berardinelli and they were both in high school at the time So she went to the gym.
She says Berardinelli took her to a back room Put a metal folding chair in front of the door Told her to face the wall And pulled her pants down.
She testified that she then blacked out and does not remember details of what allegedly happened next.
The defense argues the lack of details makes it so there is not enough evidence that Berardinelli committed the acts he is accused of.
All charges were held by the judge.
His next court appearance is scheduled for August 4th for a formal arraignment.
