National Police Week

Law enforcement officers are being honored during National Police Week to remember and honor those who give their lives everyday in the line of duty.

President John F. Kennedy designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week around that day as Police Week in 1962.

Every year officers and their families travel to the Capital in Washington D.C., To honor officers who have lost their life by participating in events and activities throughout the week.

This year 282 names of officers who have died in the line of duty will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

In our area, the Huntingdon Borough Police Department will be hosting a memorial service Tuesday, May 14th at 11 Am at the First Responders Monument near Portstown Park

Huntingdon County law enforcement agencies and the public are invited to attend
