Nardecchia Spay Neuter Fundraiser

The area has seen an over-population of cats. A basket party fundraiser was held at the Richmond Fire Hall to benefit the Nardecchia spay neuter fund.

The all volunteer organization works to battle the overpopulation of dogs and cats in Cambria and Somerset counties by helping to pay for the spaying or neutering of qualified pets by a certified vet in our area

Organizers of the fundraiser say over 400 people came to this event and there were about 160 baskets.

The money raised will go towards the cost of future clinics or for vouchers to help pet owners pay for those procedures.

“We have a huge problem with pet overpopulation, especially cats. And we raised money to help to try to get that a little bit under control. You know, they’re helping to control the pet population. Plus plus, it’s better for the health of the cat to be spayed or neutered as soon as possible.”

“Cuts down on cancers and, you know, stuff like that. Spokespeople with Nordic EEA say they helped nearly 1500 animals per year. It was an exciting fundraising day.”
