A man accused of a fatally shooting a woman in Cambria County was formally arraigned today.
Michael Lyles Junior is accused of shooting and killing 38-year-old Candace Mervin on July 8th in the city of Johnstown.
Lyles is charged with criminal homicide aggravated assault reckless endangerment and child endangerment.
Police say they were called to the 600 block of Wood Street in the city’s Hornerstown section due to a verbal argument.
They say there was no signs of physical abuse and the two were ordered to separate for the night but investigators say Mervin called 911 about 15 minutes later saying Lyles was back at the home.
They say as Mervin remained on the phone they heard gunshots silence and then a child crying.
Lyles will now go trial. And his next hearing date is scheduled for January 3rd.
