Greater Johnstown Elementary School Threat

Authorities say a Johnstown mother and her child are being charged following an investigation into alleged threats made against the Greater Johnstown School District Elementary School.

District Superintendent Dr. Amy Arcurio says that school officials received a report that a cyber student had made a threat of gun violence against the school while on a Facetime call with a fellow student.

Dr. Arcurio says that the school administration then contacted Johnstown Police, who went to the student’s home.

Authorities say a firearm, belonging to the child’s mother, was seized from the home, and school officials, in conjunction with the DA’s office, have filed charges against both the student and the mother.

School officials say there is no longer a threat to the district but West Hills Police will be providing additional security at the elementary school.

“We are appreciative of our student, teacher, Administration, our SRO and JPD who swiftly responded to this situation,”
