The Windber Fire Department unveiled their results after receiving a close to $25,000 grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
Fire officials say they were able to purchase seven sets of bunker gear.
The new gear provides emergency responders with improved safety, protecting firefighters from heat, hazardous situations and carcinogens known to increase firefighters overall risk of cancer.
“We were able to purchase a full set of gear for the seven individuals, which included helmets, hoods, coat pants and boots and gloves.
To date, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has granted $80,000 to first responder organizations in the Greater Johnstown Altoona area.
