A 17-year-old boy was killed in a house fire early Monday morning, according to State Police and the Clearfield County Coroner.
West Branch Area School District officials identified the boy as high school student Asher Deets.
“Asher was known for his positive attitude, smile, and willingness to be friends with anybody. His absence will be profoundly felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him, The loss of such a bright and promising young individual is an immense tragedy that has left a void in our hearts.”
The fire started shortly after 3 a.m. on the 4300 block of Morrisdale Allport Highway.
The state fire marshal was at the location investigating.
Deputy Fire Chief Chad Baughman with the Morris Township Volunteer Fire Department said there was at least one other person injured, but he didn’t know the condition of the person.
He said the cause is undetermined.
Baughman said firefighters did not have issues with water supply or manpower to fight the blaze, but the house had heavy flames upon their arrival.
