A Centre County man who’s also a plane pilot is getting high praise after making an emergency landing on a Utah highway. Charles Aikens is from Bellefonte and according to media outlets in Utah, had to land a small plane on Interstate 70 in Richfield Tuesday afternoon.
Aikens told KSL-TV that he was flying the two passenger plane back from California when they started experiencing issues above southern Utah. Aikens said he was able to glide the plane down to the Interstate.
According to KSL-TV, he credited decades of training for the safe landing.
