Ahead of Veterans Day 200 military veterans in Centre County were honored at Bald Eagle Area School District’s annual Veterans Day assembly. The event included students, staff, faculty, and families from throughout the district.
The guest speaker was a Port Matilda native and Bald Eagle grad who joined the military in 2006 and is currently stationed in Maryland.
“Living in Port Matilda and going through the experience i had at this school, they prepared me for the values that are necessary to do this job, and enjoy what you do. Navy core values are honor, courage, and commitment, and I didn’t realize until after I graduated and got a job in the civilian world that I was missing those.”
The morning ceremonies wrapped up with students getting the chance to explore a pair of Navy helicopters and a visit with the Navy personnel.
