Altoona School District board members have made the decision to adopt a previous policy.
This allows the district police department to give their officers access to semi-automatic weapons. It happened earlier today at a school board meeting.
Administrators say that three officers in the district are eligible to possess these weapons.
We’re told that they will not have these weapons with them unless absolutely necessary, according to a board member.
There is no word on any student’s opinions on the matter.
“Honestly we have not had anyone call us, with any major concerns. Our families want to make sure that their kids are as safe and secure as they can be, when they leave the home and come to school for the day.”
