Saturday saw a fire burn down a home in Centre County, near Howard. The family living there lost much of their possessions.

Seeing this the Wingate Elementary School, where one of the children goes, hosted bingo and a raffle to raise money for the family on Sunday.

The event also showcased a raffle, where kids could potentially win baskets full of books, food, toys, and other goodies  all in support of their friend and classmate.

“We had a number of adults that came in from the community, had no children in the school, nothing. And they were like, ‘Hey, where do we donate money to help this family?’ ‘Put it right in the box for us,’ which was amazing.”

“So, here at the school, we’re gonna be collecting donation forms, gift cards,” he adds. “We’re gonna be continuing with our clothes drive.'”
