Steelers Quarterback Change

NFL Insider Ian Rappaport reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to promote rookie, first-round pick Kenny Pickett to the starting quarterback role.

Pickett made his NFL debut Sunday in the second half of the Steelers’ 24-20 loss to the New York Jets, taking over after halftime for veteran Mitch Trubisky.

In two quarters of play, Pickett completed 10 of his 13 passes, for 120 yards, and rushed for two touchdowns. He also threw three interceptions.

Pickett became the first QB in NFL history to score two rushing touchdowns in his debut.

Head Coach Mike Tomlin will hold his weekly press conference Tuesday, where a decision on whether or not Pickett will remain under center is expected to be announced/addressed.
