Star Penn State Linebacker Facing Assault Charges

A star Penn State linebacker is facing charges Tonight for allegedly assaulting a tow truck driver.

Police say on March 16th 20-year-old Abdul Carter grabbed a tow truck driver and threw him to the ground as the man tried to tow Carter’s vehicle from Squirrel Drive in State College.

Authorities say when the driver broke free, Carter again grabbed him, threw him to the ground and held him down.

The next day the man was treated at the hospital for a fractured rib.

Carter is charged with a misdemeanor for simple assault and a summary offense.

A statement from a University official says

“The office of student accountability and conflict response will review the allegations of misconduct and determine appropriate next steps.”

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 22nd.
