A blood drive was held on Saturday in honor of Joyce Lane of Cairnbrook at the Johnstown American Red Cross. The drive was organized by Fockler Family Medicine and over 40 pints of blood were donated. Lane passed in late August after a courageous battle with cancer that required multiple blood transfusions.
“My mom died of cancer and it was eye opening to our family how critical some of those blood donations were, For her, towards the end of her life it added months to her life. So, we find it really important just to bring awareness to that and try to help out other families who really aren’t aware of it at this point so this is in honor of my mother who was a person considerate of others and this is a great way I think to extend that beyond her life here on earth.”
You can donate in memory of someone at any time at the Red Cross.
