While in Johnstown today Attorney General David Sunday also outlined what his office is doing to help combat violent crime in the city.
With several high-profile shootings this year Sunday says his office is continuing to work with local law enforcement to target violent offenders.
He says crack cocaine and cocaine remain the primary drugs driving crime in the region And that taking those drugs off the streets will help reduce violence.
Sunday also praised Johnstown Police The Cambria County District Attorney’s office And their partnerships with the FBI and ATF Saying those joint efforts are critical to keeping the city safe.
Sunday says those saturation details will continue across the city.
Meanwhile Johnstown Police Chief Mark Britton says the department will keep seeking grants to expand its public safety efforts.
While District Attorney Jessica Aurandt says her office will continue its policy of seeking no plea deals in serious criminal cases.
“In other words, we’ve employed a full court press here to do everything we can to ensure public safety along with our federal and local partners, the office of attorney general. We are firmly planted in Cambria County and we are actively working investigations as we speak. We are filing charges. We are removing criminals from the streets and we are seizing drugs and illegal firearms.”
