Legal Marijuana Bill Heads To Pennsylvania Full House

Could Pennsylvania be one step closer to legalizing recreational marijuana in the state?

On Monday, Democratic lawmakers advanced a bill, through the Pennsylvania Health Committee, which would permit the sale of marijuana to adults in state-run stores, instead of private dispensaries.

The bill is also designed to re-invest tax revenue into communities that were harmed by the war on drugs.

“Our collective study leads me to believe that this model is the best way to meet our goals of protecting public health, maximizing real opportunities for small businesses, protecting our workers, and ensuring that the products that are sold can go back to fund programs to help Pennsylvanians,”

The bill will now go to the full House for consideration, but a lack of support in the Senate could once again shut down the proposal

Medicinal marijuana has been legal in Pennsylvania since 2016.
