Convicted Cambria County Killer Brian Giles Appeal Denied

Convicted Cambria County killer Brian Giles returned to court on Tuesday, just days after he was reportedly denied an appeal in his previous murder case.

Giles has continued to maintain his innocence in both the death of this wife, Nancy, and his former girlfriend Jilly Todaro.

While Giles has pleaded not guilty in Todaro’s death, his defense attorneys argue that there are two outstanding issues in the case, which is one step closer to trial.

His defense confirmed that they have hired a forensics expert to look into the case while prosecutors have a filed a motion on what they are allowed to present to a jury about Giles’ past criminal history.

A ruling on that motion is expected to be made by the judge in about a month.

Giles’ latest court appearance comes just a few days after a Superior Court judge denied his appeal of a guilty verdict in the murder of his wife Nancy.

Giles argued that there was not enough evidence to prove that he killed her.

However, the Superior Court ruled that prosecutors’ evidence of the abusive relationship and threats, as well as incriminating statements that Giles made to others and inconsistent statements about Nancy’s disappearance was enough to find him guilty of first-degree murder.

That led to the murder conviction being upheld.

“I’ll be going back home in two years pal. Take that to the bank,” Giles told reporters on Tuesday.

As for when Giles’ next court appearance will be made, a status conference has been scheduled for July 10th.

His defense attorney’s estimate that a trial may happen late this year or early next year.
