After tens of thousands of ballots in Cambria County were unable to be scanned during November’s Election officials aim for a smoother process during this primary
Reporter Brock Owens has been following the election in Cambria County throughout the day and joins us now from the Cambria County Courthouse.
There were some mistakes made for this election in Cambria County but it seems the large or widespread mistakes have been avoided.
In this Primary Election there was a misprint on up to 2,100 Republic mail in ballots discovered a couple weeks ago with two candidates named being flipped.
That has not caused a delay in results because within the last hour election officials tell me all of those have already been duplicated and recorded.
After November’s election there was nearly a week delay before all votes were counted when about 65,000 ballots would not scan.
Cambria County President Commissioner Scott Hunt does admit that there were some smaller mistakes and confirms to me there was a misprint at one precinct in Geistown Borough.
He says a Magistrate Judge race that does not apply to that area was on the ballot.
Election officials also add that they are using a different method for registering votes especially mail ins this election with the new director
Separating by precinct instead of mixing them all together.
Officials also add that the voter turnout was low but about what they expected for this election.
