Are Parents Responsible For Blue Knob Ski Lift Fall

We’re digging more into two parents facing felony charges after their son fell off a ski lift when riding by himself.

They say there are several factors including the child’s age, The child’s maturity for their age, The activity they’re doing, And the parents responsibility in the scenario.

According to charging documents filed against the parents yesterday The boy fell about 20 feet from the lift to the ground when riding the ski lift, But was not injured.

Police say it took about 15 minutes to find the boy’s parents after the fall.

They’re now both being charged with one felony count of endangering welfare of children.

Multiple prosecutors not involved in this case about the law say the charge only applies to victims under the age of 18. But there is no other age related guidance other than that.

That’s where some decisions need to be made by prosecutors.

Bedford County District Attorney’s office say “If the situation warrants the charge we’ll charge it”. But could not comment any further.

As for the parents Maya and Micah Porter their next court date is scheduled for may 6th for a preliminary hearing.
