Two people have been injured in the 2nd House Explosion in our region in just under a week.
While the cause of the explosion is still currently unknown and under investigation, we have more on what we do know about the incident so far. The scene happened in Ferguson Township in Clearfield County, where atop the hill, you can see a house was completely flattened after a house explosion early Thursday morning.
The call came in at around 7:30am Thursday morning for what is the second house explosion in our region in less than a week. Drone footage shows of what is left of that home near Kerwinsville. Multiple fire departments and tanker trucks responded to the incident, and the fire marshal was there until mid-afternoon, working to find a cause.
Megan Witherite, the Deputy EMS Director of Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. saying: “I know it’s been like a really big teamwork effort here. Everybody’s doing really great. We appreciate everybody coming up to help.” Witherite told us what emergency officials saw when they arrived at the scene. Witherite adding: “Oh, I know, they just saw a lot of, like, debris kind of float in the air, like insulation and whatnot. And the one homeowner was out walking around. The other one was still in the basement. They had to help him get out.”
They say those individuals were extricated from the remains of the structure with moderate injuries. Emergency officials say they were taken to Penn Highlands Dubois to be treated.
