A locally-owned pharmacy chain is alerting customers to an impending change after the company was recently notified that a national pharmaceutical group is planning to terminate them from its network.
According to a statement from Martella’s Pharmacies, the termination from the Express Scripts (ESI) network is reportedly scheduled to take effect on August 18th.
Express Scripts, according to its website, is a pharmacy benefit manager that assists customers in finding pharmacies within their respective insurance plans.
Express Scripts also offers online and home delivery pharmacy services.
Martella’s, meanwhile, is a family-owned chain that has been serving the greater Johnstown and Laurel Highlands areas for “generations.”
Owners say the company is “contesting” this alleged termination by Express Scripts in an effort to continue providing “first-class customer service.”
The impending network termination comes just months after Express Scripts was reportedly named in a class-action lawsuit in Michigan.
Martella’s says it is hoping to find a resolution that will prevent any disruptions in services for its customers.
