Poppy’s Heart 💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month
If you believe that anyone that suffers with mental health issues are:
Uneducated
Alcoholics
Drug Addicts
Low Income
Lazy
Weak
Homeless
Stupid
Immature
Broken
Hopeless
Come from a bad family
Deserving of what is happening to them
Or any other stigma,
then you have a lot to learn about mental health and how stigmas can create division and lack of compassion and understanding for individuals struggling with trauma.
For our Poppy’s Heart program this year we are selling our Care Bear Suicide Prevention shirts to our Community.
The profits of all shirt sales will be donated to @namiblair ,an organization in our community that is dedicated to creating better lives for individuals affected by mental health issues, mental health illnesses, and/or suicide prevention. Nami provides educational resources for our Community for those interested in learning more about mental health.
This donation will be made by the Green Bean under the Poppy’s Heart program. This program is created in honor of our dear friend, Rebecca Hoover (Poppy) that took her life on July 16, 2019. Not only was Poppy a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, future mother-in-law, future grandmother, and beloved friend to many of us, she was a kind and charitable business owner that did a lot of good for our community. Our goal is to keep Becky’s memory alive and continue to share all the positive light she brought to this World by continuing her philanthropy. That is how Becky Hoover deserves to be remembered.
Thank you to Aimee Burns, Executive Director of Nami Blair County, for taking the time to join us for this picture.
