Veto Over-ride Failure

The Pennsylvania House failed to reach the number of votes needed to override Governor Wolf’s veto regarding school sports attendance limits.

On Monday, Governor Tom Wolf vetoed House Bill 2787, which would have mandated that school fall activities be under the sole jurisdiction of local school districts.

Pandemic restrictions allow for up to 250 people at all outdoor events, including football games and just 25 at indoor events.

However, some Pennsylvania school districts are permitting more fans in the stands in the wake of a federal judge’s ruling that tossed statewide pandemic limits on crowd size, while legislative Republicans prepared Wednesday to renew their push to enshrine local control of school sports into law.
