Hockey Teams over the area gathered today in Cambria County to support those who keep us safe. The Johnstown Generals are hosting their second annual Veterans Day tournament at the War Memorial this weekend. five hockey teams are coming from across Pennsylvania to play.
And tonight is Veterans Appreciation Night. They say the number 22 is being retired to represent the number of veterans who take their lives every single day, and they’re also dedicating Sections 19 and 20 of the arena to the American Legion for their help in supporting veterans.
In addition to raising money for veterans causes, they’re also raising money for hockey coach Steve Carlson, who is battling cancer.
“We recognize what Steve has done for the community and for hockey for myself. Steve taught me how to ice skate years ago.
So when when this happened, after the appearances he made and to help, he’s given us to get teams into this area and what he’s done for the community.”
This was a no brainer. The tournament will wrap up tomorrow for the Championship game, starting at 9:00 in the morning.
