Veteran Jobs Fair

Conemaugh Health System and the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center have teamed up to provide area veterans with a virtual job fair the week of Veterans Day.

The event is dedicated to helping area veterans transition back into the workforce. Jane Drzewiecki an RN Manager with Conemaugh Health System and Navy Veteran says there are more than 200 open jobs that vets can apply to.

“Veterans have a great amount of pride in their work they’re really reliable, they’re conscientious. They’re just wonderful people to have in positions and you can see it in their work,” said Drzewiecki

Drzewiecki says the virtual job fair will be done via Zoom and kicks off Monday November 9th with at 2pm with an informational session on environmental services and dietary services. There will be other information sessions at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, 10am Thursday and 2pm Friday.

Other sessions throughout the week will cover jobs in nursing, security, laboratory work and much more. You can find the Zoom links to join the sessions here.

This help to area veterans doesn’t stop with the virtual job fair. Drzewiecki says they’ve started a new mentorship program and will be there to helps vets through the interview process and train them if they’re hired.

Despite the COVID-19 Pandemic changing many events throughout the year and making this job fair itself virtual, Drzewiecki says they’re doing what they can to be there for veterans.

“I hope that we can get a lot of veterans in and for them to know that we’re here we want to help if they’re without a job or they’re transitioning come see us come check it out and we’ll be there with them the whole way,” Drzewiecki
