UPJ also honored military veterans today, staff, students and community members laid a wreath in tribute to our fallen heroes at the memorial on campus. The memorial has the names of those lost of the September 11th terror attacks, as well as the names and ages of every military member killed in Afghanistan and Iraq.
In the war that followed,President Jem Specter says that it’s an honor for the university to pause and recognize those who sacrificed for this country.
“Our campus is deeply committed to supporting veterans, and we believe it is a way to remind us every day of the sacrifice of the service of these veterans and of our obligation to not just show gratitude, but to celebrate that sacrifice and to celebrate the honor and to be grateful every day.”
The university also unveiled a digital replication of the Heroes memorial inside of the John Murtha Center for Public Service and National Competitiveness.
