Twin Rocks Man Arrested

State police in Cambria County arrested a Twin Rocks man on Sunday just hours after troopers say he burglarized an Ebensburg tobacco shop and stole lottery tickets.

Troopers say 35-year-old Matthew Greene faces charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.

Investigators say troopers were dispatched to Smokers Square, located along West High Street in Ebensburg, around 6 a.m. Sunday, July 4th, for a reported burglary alarm.

Troopers say the front door window, and a side window, had been broken out, and surveillance video showed that the suspect, later identified as Greene, had stolen lottery tickets from the counter.

Upon further investigation, police learned that Greene had gone to a nearby convenience store and cashed in a $100 winning lottery ticket, which he then used to purchase drinks and cigarettes.

Troopers say Greene was eventually apprehended at a nearby hotel and was in possession of a large amount of scratch-off lottery tickets.

Police also found drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Greene is currently being housed at the Cambria County Prison, according to court documents, on $70,000 bail.
