A new Organization in Bedford County is working to make a difference in the lives of local First Responders. The organization is called the Bedford County Heroes Fund and it’s dedicated to helping those who help us.
Bedford County Resident Michael Whelan has worked in the Law Enforcement field for almost a decade, so he understands how essential First Responders are to a community. Bedford County Heroes Fund Organizer Michael Whelan saying: “These are firefighters going into burning houses to save lives. These are EMS crews that are going into houses that have COVID patients, that have serious aid that they need to put their lives on the line for, every day.”
With the year First Responders have had working along the Front Lines of COVID, Michael wanted to find a way to help them out. He partnered with the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies to start the “Bedford County Heroes Fund” which will help Firefighters, EMS, and Police Officers — who live or work in Bedford County — with any financial struggles.
Michael says if you see someone that needs help in your Community, do something about it. Whelen adding: “If you have the initiative, if you have the go-for, if you have the gumption – go do it? What’s stopping you?”
Employers, Co-workers, and Friends of someone who needs help will be able to nominate them through the Program. You can keep up with future fundraising events on the “Bedford County Heroes Fund” Facebook page and donate through the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies website.
