Straight to football, the Pittsburgh Steelers had two defensive players named to the Pro Bowl late last night on the AFC roster.
It should come as no surprise it’s game wrecking linebacker T.J. Watt and mainstay on the defensive line captain Cam Heyward in the midst of a career best year for Hayward.
He’s shown out despite that veteran status. Of course, the defensive captains can head the Pro Bowl for the fifth time in his career, and this year it’s been unbelievable.
14 starts, seven sacks, eleven tackles for loss. 73 overall tackles and a 32 year old leads the NFL in solo run tackles with 32.
Now the accolades themselves are great. But Heyward knows he’s far from done.
“You know, it’s awesome to be recognized. You know why I work my tail off. You know, I remember years ago where it was hard to get in and, you know, I always wanted to be a pro bowler.
But, you know, that’s only, you know, a chapter in the book. You know, it’s not something I can just hang my hat on and say all the seasons done.
You know, there’s a lot more to be accomplished”
