Tonight, the State Theater of Johnstown is hosting a Star Wars Night for May the 4th.
Over 100 people are expected to attend and officials hope that some upcoming events like this one and renovations will help brighten the future of the theater.
Some of the planned renovations include a new roof, an update to the front of the building, a basement speakeasy, and installing an elevator to make the building more accessible.
Even though these renovations are still to come, the theater is hosting many events heading into the summer.
“Throughout the summer months we are going to be doing movies and live concerts as well. We’re still waiting for the exact time frame on when our phase one renovations are going to
begin, so we kind of have to dance around those whenever we can get people in.”
Any money made from these events will go right back into the theater’s restoration project.
