State College Spikes Saved

For those of you who had you posters in your windows and fought to save the history of Baseball in State College, Congrulations. The Spikes have bee saved. Major League Baseball teamed up with Prep-Baseball-Report to create a Minor League for top eligible Draft Prospects, called the MLB Draft League. This new League will feature five teams, one of those being your State College Spikes. The MLB said they are considering adding a 6th Team. Teams will play a 68 Game Regular Season that includes an All-Star Break that would coincide with the Draft early in July. The Season will run roughly between may through mid-August. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2020 New York Penn League was suspended indefenitally. Where the Spikes have been a rich part of State College’s Culture, many Fans like Fritz Smith are happy to know that the State College Spikes won’t be leaving any time soon.
