St. Mary’s Flag Ceremony

Friday in St. Mary’s, residents gathered for a Flag Ceremony in honor of the lives lost 19 years ago. They held their American Flags high at the times the Twin Towers in New York City were hit. The first bell rang at 8:46am, then 15 minutes later at 9:03am. This was the first 9/11 Flag Waving Ceremony in St. Mary’s organized by Dolly Wehler. She’s a local Coordinator for Wreaths Across America and says her friend worked in New York when the Twin Towers were hit.

Wehler says this is a tragedy the entire Country is still recovering from, nearly 2 decades later. Dolly Wehler saying: “It’ll be something that everyone, especially those who have lost someone, will experience for the rest of their life.” Wehler says it’s important to take a moment out of your day to honor the lives lost on 9/11.
