Today students with the Shanksville School District held a Special Olympics themed fundraiser in support of former fire chief Terry Shaffer.
Shaffer is in need of a heart transplant and the community has been helping his family raise money for his post care needs.
Today’s fundraiser at the high school ran in conjunction with Heart Awareness Month.
Teachers at Today’s event say it’s important to teach students of the positive impacts of giving back to the community.
As a reminder check donations should be made out to the school district and donations of any kind should be turned into the elementary office by tomorrow.
