Two local school districts are coming together to raise money for students in need.
Ferndale Area and Conemaugh Valley School Districts were once big rivals.
But now they’re in a football, band, and cheerleading co-op together.
This month, two fires destroyed the homes of two students within the districts.
“In August 2020, our biggest area rival became family and we all know what Ferndale Area does when someone in our family is in need. We were put together as one family…and not just on the football field,” staff wrote on the FASD Facebook page.
They’re joining forces even more and selling t-shirts to raise money for the families impacted.
The shirts have both a Blue Jay and a Yellow Jacket on them, reading “Better Together.”
Tonia Mitchell, Secretary at the Ferndale Area Junior-Senior High School & Varsity Cheerleading Advisor, said she hopes this will be a success.
“They became part of our family. The football players, the cheerleaders, the band – we all combined as one. So, when one of them needs help, what can we do to help?” Tonia told 6 News.
Orders are due by May 7th and checks should be made payable to American Eagle.
All order forms and payments should be submitted to the Ferndale Area Jr./Sr. High School Office:
