Sandy Township police have charged a DuBois man after he was accused of severely beating another man with an aluminum baseball bat.
Authorities say Kevin Shirey, 64, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and simple assault, according to online court documents.
Police say on Friday, May 6, officers were dispatched to a residence along Quarry Ave. in Sandy Township for a report of an assault.
Police say the victim, who was allegedly allowing Shirey to stay in an RV next his property, had engaged in an argument with Shirey.
According to the affidavit, Shirey allegedly grabbed a baseball bat from his RV and repeatedly struck the victim with it.
Police say, according to the victim, Shirey hit him with the bat approximately 8 to 10 times, including in the head and hand.
Police say the victim suffered numerous injuries including a bleeding wound to the back of his head, a head contusion and an apparent broken hand.
Authorities say the victim was transported to Penn Highlands DuBois for treatment of his injuries.
Shirey has since been arraigned and is being housed at the Clearfield County Prison, on $50,000 bail, court dockets show.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 13.
