Rt219 Accident Trial Update

Today marked day-2 in a trial of a West Virginia man who is accused of driving drunk during a fatal car crash that claimed the life of a Johnstown woman.

Today, Adam’s Township Police Officer, John Hemming was called to the stand

Hemming spoke with the defendent, Chase Turner and the passenger in Turner’s car, Julia Alejos.

Hemming says Turner told him there was a third person in the pickup truck who was driving and had fled the scene druing the crash.

Law enforcement searched the surrounding scene, but found no evidence of another person in the vehicle at the time.

Hemmings also gained search warrants to obtain surveillance video from Quaker Steak and Lube in Richland Township where Turner and Alejos were reportedly drinking before the crash.

Over 20 minutes played during court, and showed no evidence of a third person leaving the bar with them or getting into the pickup truck.

The defense made the decision to wait and cross examine officer Hemming tomorrow in anticipation their cross examination will be just as long as the commonwealth’s.
