Rt 64 Fatal Accident Victims Identified

Tonight Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers releasing the identities of the 2 people killed in Yesterday’s crash along Route 64 in Walker Township.

Sayers says 71 year-old Samuel Keller and 29 year-old Brandy Butler both died of blunt force trauma in the accident. Their deaths have been rules as accidental.

The latest deadly crash in just 8 days means 4 people have died in 3 crashes.

All four victims were not wearing seat belts.

There were less than 7 miles between all 3 crashes.

We spoke with a Penndot safety official today about that stretch of road asking if there’s a safety issue here.

“So we reviewed our crash history on this particular stretch of Route 64 for the past 5 years and we found that in those 5 years, during that reportable history, that we only had 5 reportable crashes along that stretch of roadway and in that time, of those crashes, only 1 had an injury which was suspected to be minor. So this is not something typical of this roadway, but now that we’ve had this string of fatalities over the course of the last week, we are taking a closer look at things and will be responding accordingly.”

Yesterday’s crash happened along locally known Nittany Valley Drive in Walker Township around 3.

Police say a man in a Chevrolet Malibu was headed South drifted into the Northbound lane. Hitting an oncoming vehicle head on.

The driver of the second vehicle a female was seriously injured.

Her passenger a man was not wearing his seatbelt properly and was fatally injured.
